NATIONAL INSTITUTE ON DRUG ABUSE
NIDA's mission is to lead the Nation in bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction. This charge has two critical components. The first is the strategic support and conduct of research across a broad range of disciplines. The second is ensuring the rapid and effective dissemination and use of the results of that research to significantly improve prevention and treatment and to inform policy as it relates to drug abuse and addiction.
Overall, the death rate from heroin overdose in the 28 states that reported complete information to the CDC increased from 1.0 to 2.1 per 100,000 between 2010 and 2012. During that same time period, the death rate from overdoses of narcotic painkillers dropped slightly from 6.0 per 100,000 to 5.6 per 100,000, according to the report.

Calvary Addiction Recovery Center
Since 1964, Calvary Addiction Recovery Center has been a leader in addiction recovery.
